Pole spears have been around for many years and are a simple yet effective way of fishing. They are also commonly called Hawaiian Slings.
We offer two types of spear, one made of fibre glass in 3 pieces and the second made from aluminium in 2 pieces. The aluminium version is the lighter of the two options, however, the flex in the fibre glass version adds to the tension in the sling thus producing a more lively/faster shot.
The pole spears have a rubber sling at the back end of the spear. By placing your thumb through the sling then by moving your hand and sling down the pole towards the front of the spear, you create tension in the rubber that when released propels the spear forward.
